The Liverpool midfielder, who made a name for himself at Manchester United, is out on loan at Anfield for the rest of the season and is now looking to build a new career in Europe.
His arrival is the latest coup for Rodgers after he appointed Brendan Rodgers as Liverpool manager in June and his first signings have been the signing of James Milner and Alberto Moreno.
The pair are the latest additions to Liverpool’s squad who will start the season in Europe, with Milner set to be joined by Moreno on loan for the second half of the campaign and the Argentine winger looking to prove his fitness ahead of a move to Real Madrid in the summer.
Caldwell has already impressed during the pre-season and his return from injury will be an important boost to the Reds, with the Italian signing a new contract in the meantime.
“I am delighted to have signed for Liverpool, a club I grew up in,” he said in a statement.
“I have been playing for Liverpool since I was 11 years old, and I want to build on the progress made since I joined the club.
I feel a great responsibility to work towards making this club a success in the years ahead.
This is a big step for me to make a big difference in my career.
A huge thanks to all the fans who have supported me all my career, and especially the support from the Kop and the city.
It has been a fantastic season for me, I am very happy for this club, and for the fans.
Thanks to the club, the board and the supporters.
Thank you to all those who have shown me love, and who are giving me a great chance.
Best wishes for the future!”
Caldweill has made his Liverpool debut in last season’s FA Cup win against Manchester United.
He has also made five appearances for the senior team, starting three of them and scored his first league goal against Sunderland.
Rodgers has already announced the departure of Martin Skrtel, Adam Lallana and Philippe Coutinho and will be looking to strengthen the squad with the signings of Moreno, Milner, Moreno and James Milne.
