A guitarist for the band Thundercat died after a shooting in Los Angeles, authorities said.
The band member was identified as Aaron T. Smith, who was 29.
He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Smith was a member of the Thundercat and performed with the band on a string of gigs, including a set in Washington DC in January.
He had also performed with other groups including the Black Sabbath and Black Sabbath-inspired band Misfits.
He and his bandmates performed in San Diego and Austin, Texas.
Smith had been hospitalized since Friday, and his body was found Monday morning.
A postmortem examination was being conducted by police.
In a statement, the Black Sheep Motorcycle Club in Los Gatos, California, said Smith was a founding member, a guitarist, and a dedicated musician who was well loved by the band.
“Aaron was a true musician and a true friend,” the statement read.
“He played his instruments beautifully and always played with a sense of humor.
He will be greatly missed.”
Smith’s death comes after several musicians have died in the United States in recent months.
A string of musicians and others have been killed in the last two weeks, including members of Black Sabbath, Black Sabbath Jr. and Black Sheep.
