‘I think this is a game changer’: Former Gov. Mike Huckabee says he believes President Donald Trump is not mentally ill, and that Trump is mentally healthy

Huckabee, who has long called for Trump to be prosecuted for obstruction of justice, made the comments in an interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” program.
“I think the president is mentally strong, I think the reason he has the presidency is because he is not intellectually ill,” Huckabee said.
“I think he has been mentally strong for a long time.
I don’t think he’s intellectually ill.
And the reason is because the president of the United States is a person who has been diagnosed with schizophrenia and is mentally ill.
He’s not mentally healthy.
He has been a very, very bad president. “
The president is not a great president.
He has been a very, very bad president.
I mean, I don´t think he is mentally stable.
And so I think that there is something to be said for a president who is not in a position of authority, but is mentally competent, which the president does.”
Huckabee, who served as Trump’s chief of staff for seven years until he left office in January 2018, said the president doesn’t deserve to be in a mental hospital because he’s mentally unstable.
“The president’s not in any mental institution,” Huckabee told host Joe Scarborough.
“He doesn’t have a mental illness.
The president is a healthy person.
Because the president should not be there.””
But I think he needs to be under the care of a psychiatrist.
Because the president should not be there.”
Haiti, a Republican, has been vocal in calling for Trump’s impeachment.
But he has said he will not pursue a 2020 presidential bid in the event Trump is removed from office.
“As a former governor, as a man of faith, I’m not a candidate,” Huckabee added.
“As a president, as an American, I have to take my responsibility as president to lead this country and the world.
I have a moral responsibility as an elected official to take care of my country.”
Trump’s campaign issued a statement saying, “Mike Huckabee is not qualified to be president of The United States.
He should not even be in office.
He is not fit to hold that office.
Huckabee’s outrageous and offensive comments about President Donald J. Trump are deeply offensive, and do not represent the views of the Trump campaign or of the Republican Party.”
The president has repeatedly praised the former Arkansas governor, saying he “is the one person” in the country who is mentally fit to serve.
“You look at Mike Huckabee, he has a real good heart,” Trump said in May at a rally in Nashville, Tenn.
“So, if he thinks it’s wrong, then it is wrong.
And I mean that very strongly.”
Huffman has also been a frequent critic of Trump, calling him a “cancer on conservatism” and saying he has “lost his mind.”
